The Table Review is designed with care and intention, in the belief that a publication's form should reflect its values.
TYPEFACE
The logotype and select headers of this website are set in Avara, a libre transitional serif designed by Raphaël Bastide, with contributions from Wei Huang, Lucas Le Bihan, Walid Bouchouchi, and Jérémy Landes. Avara is published by Velvetyne, an independent type foundry, and is available under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1. We are grateful for the generosity of the Libre Type community.
The body of each published piece is set in Spectral, a serif typeface designed by Jean-Baptiste Levée of Production Type, a type design agency based in Paris and Shanghai. Commissioned by Google Fonts and released in 2017, Spectral was designed for immersive, long-form reading on screen — which felt right for us. It is available under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1.
